Hey, what's with not listing ammo pickups? I know that in UT2004 pages they're not listed, but they're important none the less. Like, the fact that there are flak and rifle pickups on the beamed platform is a very, very important fact! --GreatEmerald 17:54, 4 October 2008 (EDT)

I felt that it cluttered and distracted too much. The more you display, the less effective the map becomes. The maps display the weapons, the tables are for the ammo. By doing both in the maps, it loses its primary functionality and becomes useless. I can't tell the difference between weapons or ammo on a map that small, so I have to go and open the large version and even then it takes longer for me to find the right pickup since there's so much other stuff distracting me. I'm not against the idea though, and I do agree that ammo is important. But those pickups on the beamed platform are both mentioned in the table AND the strategies section, which should be enough I reckon. I'll give it a shot if you want me to, but I'd rather finish up the ones I'm working on still before I go and look at that. It could work, but after seeing how it didn't work on Ariza, I decided to leave them out for now. --Kaithofis 08:51, 5 October 2008 (EDT)
Well, I don't see a point in giving the weapons without ammo then. It's not logical, you get the weapon, but have no idea where ammo is. Sure, if it's just adjacent to the weapon, then it might not be displayed - but if the ammo is further away, it's special and should be noted on the map. Also, you can make the layout bigger itself, so it would be less cluttered (the icons will be smaller compared to the layout - but actually their size will be the same). And the point that it's big isn't an issue as many people have widescreens now (including me). --GreatEmerald 07:58, 6 October 2008 (EDT)
Not including me, though :P But my main concern is that it loses its effectiveness. Right now, the pickups are recognizable and easy to find, even in the thumbnail next to the table. By increasing the size/making the pickups relatively smaller, you won't have that. You'd have to open the map and view it in its full size on the separate page to be able to see what lies where. But again, I'll look at it when I have the time, which may be later rather than sooner with things becoming increasingly hectic at my uni --Kaithofis 06:19, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
I think those who are interested open the detailed map anyway. Sure, those who know the layout are good with a thumbnail, but in that case they don't need to worry about ammo nor weapons, while new users do need to know about them. Also, UT3 minimaps have ammo too: Image:VCTF-Suspense-itemkey.jpg --GreatEmerald 18:40, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
The map as is has value in the thumbnail, which would be removed by adding the ammo. There's no need for it to be so black and white. Some things are more useful than others, so they are displayed more prominently. Repeating what I've said in the past, we can't teach someone everything there is to know about a map through text. If they want to know ammo locations and can't figure them out by looking around the map themselves, the text descriptions are available. I think that is enough. If there was a reasonable way to include the ammo, I wouldn't be opposed. But I don't see that it will always be possible. — Haarg 11:03, 13 October 2008 (EDT)
