It all begins in the wreck of your prison transport vessel. In this first level you will have to make it your priority to find a basic weapon and get some health. Having just crashed you are severely injured, and have only 12%. You have also been completely stripped of your worldly possessions, so have nothing with which to begin your journey.

What you do next is crucial to the whole game. Step out of your cell, and walk to the far end of the prison promenade. Take the lift, and take the Universal Translator from the dead guard. Throughout the game the Universal Translator will be used to relay messages and important information about your surroundings to you, so it is important that you get it first.

Grab the Universal Translator

Get the Translator. Optionally, you can jump back down to the lower level, head to the other side of the room and hit a lever hidden in the dark to drop down to the execution chamber. Read the Translator message on the control panel to the right to see a magnificent display of electrocution and gibbing (save on body disposal later, I suppose).

Cell 5 is empty except for a highly dismembered corpse and cell 6 is of course your own, so let's move on. Before going back up the lift, take a detour to see a display of Unreal's special effects. Head for the dark opening on the promenade and press the small light object on the right. This lever sends the floor down as a lift.
+
Search the room for flares and health, then back up where you picked up the Translator, head down the path to the right. Watch your step, as some explosions will send you reeling, and perhaps damage you or knock you off the path. Enter the vent system to the right of the locked door. The vent is full of green fog, and you can hear screaming and explosions. Don't worry, it is all harmless.

Head over to the control panel to the right. Activate the Universal Translator and read the message.
+
You have now entered the bridge area. Hop down to the lower level, then back up the steps and through a door. This is the armory. You will find a [[Kevlar Suit]] in here offering you some armor behind a forcefield. The floor is slippery, so watch out. To disable the forcefield, look for a button hanging out of the ceiling, and bonk it with your head. Check for more health packs if needed.

Look through the glass at the electric chair, and be both amused and disgusted as the corpse in the chair is spectacularly gibbed!
+
You will come back out on the bridge. To the right are some beams that contain some clips if you are feeling so inclined as to grab them. Drop down to the lower level. You will see a corridor in front of you. Follow the corridor while dodging the live electrical wire. Check the next room for more health packs, if needed.

Now return and ride the lifts back up to where you found the Universal Translator.
+
Enter the door marked "Med Room" into a red room with some health packs. At this point you should be back to full health. As you enter the next corridor, you will notice that the door in front of you opens slightly then gets stuck. Don't worry, this is supposed to happen! From under the door you can hear screams and gunfire, but as the door unjams and you enter the room you can see that everyone has been killed by a large green reptilian creature. Ignore him for now, as he runs away. In this room you will find a [[Dispersion Pistol]]. Follow the corridor around to a door marked "Area C". On the right is a health pack behind some glass, if needed (just shoot it out).

The door at this end of the balcony will not open, so instead, head up the air duct with the missing grille. The duct is noisy and full of a green fog; don't worry about that, it's harmless. As you walk though be prepared for a sudden explosion ahead. You might even catch sight of a creature darting away at the far end... but ignore it. Moving on, the music will start as you enter the bridge.
+
Now, take the right fan duct that has been destroyed. On the right wall in the next room, you will see a switch. Touch it to bring down the cargo lift. Jump on the cargo lift and you will be taken to the upper floor. Continue through the door marked "Area B" then through the bars at the far end of the room.

Now hop off on to the level below. Head up the steps and through the door beneath the consoles. Push the lever to ride the lift up into the armory, where you will see a Kevlar Suit armor item behind a forcefield. To deactivate the field, jump and head-butt the blue switch on the power conduit. Having collected the suit, head along the slippery corridor collecting the Health Pack as you go. Emerging back on to the bridge deck, take a moment to step on to the beams to the right. If you fall off, go back up through the Armory and try again. Collect the Clips (Automag / Minigun ammo) from atop the beams then drop down to the floor via the Health Pack on the intermediate level. Follow the corridor. Beware explosions and the dancing electric cable. The far end of the next room reveals a Health Pack.
+
At last, you have found a way off the ship! Shoot the glass out on the switch marked "In case of emergency, break glass". The switch will activate opening a hatch in the floor and allowing you to exit the ship. Jump down the hatch. That's it, you've completed this level!

Follow the door marked "Med Lab" into the red room with some Health Packs which should take you to 100%. Enter the next corridor, and the door will shut behind you. Although you will seem to be trapped, there is a crack visible under the next door. Something is going on in there: there is a growl, yells, sounds of gunfire... then the door will open to a spread of body parts and the sight of a strange reptilian humanoid running away. Ignore it for now...

Entering the room, you can now collect your first weapon, the self-recharging Dispersion Pistol. Proceed down the hall - the music which stopped as you entered the Med Lab now restarts as you realize that the creature has vanished. Follow the corridor past broken corpses and go through the door marked "Area C". On the right of this room is a Health Pack behind glass that can be shot to pieces if required. From here, take the right of the two fan ducts, which is damaged and contains no blades. You will arrive at a lift and some consoles.

Now, press the switch on the console and wait for the cargo lift to descend. Step aboard and it will rise automatically to the walkway above. Continue through the "Area B" door - mind the ship-quake - then along to the far end of the area through the bars.

Finally, shoot the glass on the wall marked "In case of emergency break glass". The switch beneath will activate, and a trap door on the floor will open. Jump down the escape duct to complete the level.

The game begins as you wake up from unconsciousness in your prison cell on board the Vortex Rikers. You have crash landed on an unfamiliar planet and are severely injured (having only 12% health left). As you were a prisoner, ylou have nothing with which to defend yourself or heal your wounds.

The first thing to do on this level is to go to the far end of the room and ride the lift up to the second floor where you will find a Universal Translator. This will help you figure out the story throughout the rest of the game by read the Translator messages that are scattered around.

Watch your step, as some explosions will send you reeling, and perhaps damage you or knock you off the path. Enter the vent system to the right of the locked door. The vent is full of green fog, and you can hear screaming and explosions. Don't worry, it is all harmless.

You have now entered the bridge area. Hop down to the lower level, then back up the steps and through a door. This is the armory. You will find a Kevlar Suit in here offering you some armor behind a forcefield. The floor is slippery, so watch out. To disable the forcefield, look for a button hanging out of the ceiling, and bonk it with your head. Check for more health packs if needed.

You will come back out on the bridge. To the right are some beams that contain some clips if you are feeling so inclined as to grab them. Drop down to the lower level. You will see a corridor in front of you. Follow the corridor while dodging the live electrical wire. Check the next room for more health packs, if needed.

Enter the door marked "Med Room" into a red room with some health packs. At this point you should be back to full health. At last, you have found a way off the ship! Shoot the glass out on the switch marked "In case of emergency, break glass". The switch will activate opening a hatch in the floor and allowing you to exit the ship. Jump down the hatch. That's it, you've completed this level!
