A Kai is a species found in Unreal 2. One was seen in Janus guarding the two artifacts. Won't let John or Dr. Meyer, until he asked politely.

A Tosc transformed from a Kai on the Dorian Gray

One is also seen on The Dorian Gray, being transformed into a Tosc by the Artifact.
