This page desperately needs some headers and such. --Sir Brizz 00:24, 23 July 2007 (EDT)
Fixed and added various stuff about the Unreal 1 part. --UBerserker
This page has POTENTIAL. But right now it's a mess, we could try to separate this article into smaller ones, add pictures (will do that in some time), add Skaarj from UT2004 and do an overall reedit to make it more appealing.--QJohnnyp 07:29, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
- I agree; right now it's a bit hard to read. I personally suggest moving all the Unreal gameplay-specific stuff to a new article, since that is mostly stats and descriptions of very specific Skaarj classes. Maybe call it "Skaarj (Unreal enemy)"? For instance the facts that some Skaarj classes use the Bio Rifle, some have 70 health, and some walk around in Nali Castle doesn't have anything to do with Skaarj in general. If I click "Skaarj" somewhere I am much more likely to be interested in Skaarj overall. Of course there should be a DAB link at the top, as well as links pointing there in the section mentioning Skaarj presence on Na Pali (in Unreal/RTNP). Compare to a detailed description of Torgr's background, which belongs in his article and not in here. Once that is moved, the article will have shrunk considerably and will be much more readable.
- It may not be consistent, but I dont think Unreal 2's Skaarj section needs to be moved, since it's already just a pretty general description about only three different kinds. Also it is much shorter. :)
- The main article should of course still mention not all Skaarj all equally powerful, carry different weapons, etc., and special Skaarj such as the Queen should of course remain in the main article, but be described more story-wise and less gameplay-wise. Well, that's my view. Retodon8 05:51, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- My opinion: Skaarj history, technology, appearance and social structure overall should stay here and link to millions of smaller pages like Ice Skaarj or Skaarj Lord, with the queen described here and the page Skaarj Queen containing her stats, strategies to fight her, gameplay stuff.
- Unreal 2 stuff... :/ Well, it should be merged with the rest of the article, can't be separate. And descriptions of each class from light to heavy should have separate articles too.
- ...Do I have permission to spend the next week creating a draft version of the changes I imagine? ;) If you want it to be done right- do it yourself.--QJohnnyp 06:47, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- The "millions of smaller pages" (actually "tiny pages") immediately makes me firmly against that part, although we agree about the main article. Doing that is actually less user friendly than presenting a more decent chunk of info in one place. Scrolling isn't barely as bad as having to click and click and click, and moving through tabs/windows to read everything. Also it's much more work to enter everything like that, not to mention if the format ever changes, it would mention redoing all those articles again as well.
- After some thinking "Skaarj Warrior" and "Skaarj Trooper" pages would be good. All Warriors are somewhat similar, as are all Troopers. That leaves the Queen, Pupae, and Warlord though. Anyway, it's probably wise to reach some kind of consensus before making any big changes. :) We are only two who have voiced their opinion, but I'm sure there are more. Missing Tournament team info
I just started a new section about Skaarj presence in the Tournament. I don't remember the name of the Skaarj team that entered in UT2003, and it doesn't seem like their article exists yet. Actually maybe UT2003 didn't have any, but UT2004 did, or UT2004 added a second team of Skaarj? If someone knows, please add and/or correct! :) Retodon8 05:51, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Skaarj weren't in UT2003 at all, to my recollection. --Dark Pulse 14:32, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- I think you are right. Also, after I came home I started UT2004 for a bit, and figured out the "regular" Skaarj are also Iron Skull, so I added them there. I'll edit this article too now. Retodon8 15:06, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
"One of the Tournament's Invasion matches centers around the destruction of a Skaarj mothership attacking Earth at the end of the Human-Skaarj War in 2216," I think it was a Assault match where the mothership was in. -N1ghtmare 21:45, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Oops! Obviously! :) Retodon8 04:14, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
What about the Black Fist: Mekkor and skrilax?
Different designs
Should we create a theory on why are designs of Skaarj between games so different? Or take it that it was just retcon/redesign?--QJohnnyp 06:47, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- I think it isn't as much theory as it is fact that different design teams as well as different technology available to those teams account for the differences. :) I wouldn't mind to see some text on this subject though.
- Right now the article mentions Skaarj having short tusks, but anyone who played UT2004 knows that that isn't (always) true. Also in Unreal Skaarj seem to have tentacles, and definitely in UT2004, since they can move them tentacle-like in their taunts, but somehow UC2's Szalor has hair? Also some Skaarj have tales, whereas others don't? Szalor's face looks very different from regular Skaarj... whatever those are, since their face design hasn't remained exactly constant either. I say there's enough to be discussed, and it's relevant enough to at least quickly mention somewhere. Retodon8 12:29, 20 August 2007 (EDT)

Sections?
Why do we have the same sections for different games? Shouldn't all Social Structures, Technologies etc. be merged into one? --GreatEmerald 12:49, 8 June 2008 (EDT)
Usually?
The "Architecture and symbols" features the word "usually" eight times; a bit much. :) I think it would be better to mention right at the start the section discusses the most common architecture and not keep repeating it. Also I always believed the colour green comes from the specific tech the Skaarj use, never heard it was because of their skin colour. Also is the UDamage logo definitely the Skaarj logo? I never managed to found actual proof of its meaning. Retodon8 18:22, 8 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yea :) Well you know, this is wiki, go on and edit that. I didn't quite have time to fix the style yesterday. And what do you mean "specific tech"? I mean, they rarely use green in their machines, only as decorations. And yes, UDamage is absolutely the Skaarj logo, just like the green team's Domination point in UT. The UDamage is like that probably because it makes you as strong as a Skaarj... Or is of Skaarj design. And wow, yesterday when I was searching for logo textures, I opened Unreal's Demon Crater map and flew over the mothership... And I understood that it's absolutely the same form as the mothereship in AS-Mothership, just for some reason half of it in in the ground... Wonder why. --GreatEmerald 04:06, 9 June 2008 (EDT)
